Dr.
Stephen Halbrook is an attorney and
author. His Ph.D. in philosophy is from Florida
State University; his law degree is from Georgetown
University Law Center. Dr. Halbrook authored the amicus
brief for 55 Senators, the President of the Senate, and
250 Congressmen in D.C. v. Heller. He is the
author of FIREARMS LAW
DESKBOOK: FEDERAL
AND STATE CRIMINAL
PRACTICE (2011); THE FOUNDERS' SECOND
AMENDMENT: ORIGINS
OF THE RIGHT TO BEAR
ARMS (2008); FREEDMEN, THE
FOURTEENTH AMENDMENT, AND
THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, 1866-1876 (1998), and
reissued in 2010 under the title SECURING CIVIL RIGHTS,
and his 1984 book, THAT
EVERY MAN BE ARMED: THE EVOLUTION
OF A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.
He argued Castillo v.
United States before the Supreme Court in
2000. He argued Printz v. United
States before the Supreme Court in
1997. He argued United States v.
Thompson/Center Arms before the Supreme
Court in 1992. Dr. Halbrook won all three
cases. His topic at the Scholars Seminar was
The Right to Carry and How It Fits with the Right
to Keep and Bear. |
