First night in Paris, I'd
walked from the Gare du Nord train station, via Blvd. de
Magenta to Blvd. de Strasbourg, which becomes Blvd. de
Sebastopol, which runs to the Seine. Then I'd walked
along the Seine to Pont de l'Alma. I'd hoped to walk to
the Arc de Triomphe, but the bridge with a view of the
Eiffel Tower was as far as my short, fat legs would carry
me. So, I walked across the way to the first restaurant I
came to and paid an arm and a
leg for six scallops and some rice, and for the right to
use the restaurant "water closet." Photo below: View from underneath the
Eiffel Tower, looking up.
