George Irvin Beard, 1897-1965

Born on a summer morning to a woman no one could say a bad word about, George Irvin "Irv" Beard died 13 days short of his 68th birthday, begging for a cigarette. He began smoking and hard drinking in his teen years. His last words were to his youngest son from whom he had requested a cigarette. Irv took a drag off the cigarette, exhaled, sighed, and said, "Ah, that was good." And then he died.

The official diagnosis was cancer of the esophogus. In addition to the smoking and drinking, Irv had spent his last 20 working years breathing fumes from asphalt. He headed crews that built roads throughout Indiana. Such fumes are carcinogenic.

When Irv was a young teenager, there was a gun accident that he felt guilty about for the rest of his life: With a pellet gun, he accidently put out his cousin's eye.

He spent the last months of his life with his sister (Edith) and her husband (Ed). His sister cared for him, and his brother-in-law was the one who would carry him to the bathroom. He was in the hospital for only the last day of his life. His sister had cared for him till the end.

Above child's father had no parental rights because the mother married another man when she was pregnant. However, natural father saw child regularly until child was past two years old. At some point, mother refused to allow the natural father to see the child, and natural father had no legal rights. Paternity of living male b. 1959 is a certainty. IF there are no false-paternities between Miles Beard and Miles Beard's straight-male-line two-greats grandfather, the Y-DNA sequence that living male b. 1959 passed to his son and that the son passed to his sons is from haplogroup L.
