Alice's interesting live folks

Here are a few stories written when I was a young newspaper reporter living off M&M's and coffee 'til three in the morn, muttering the jokes of newspaper reporters:

  • Half a truth is better than no truth at all.
  • When in doubt, make it up.
  • You didn't say you wanted it good; you said you wanted it Thursday.
  • News is whatever anyone will pay a quarter for.
  • Beware of old printers who want to show you their type lice.

In most cases, the names of people have been changed or deleted. Some of the old stories are about individual people; others are about issues. I also wrote about city budgets and land zoning and referendums, but those stories were boring even when they were news. ... There's a special people feature from 2000.
